BRIDEZILLA GETS 30!
The exploits of Jordan Graham have been the subject of two blogs written in the past six months. As you might remember, Jordan and her husband of eight days, Cody Johnson, were honeymooning in bucolic Glacier National Park. At the end of a romantic hike, Jordan pushed Cody off a cliff and he fell to his demise. Based on her ever-changing story as well as damaging text messages sent prior to their hike, Jordan was charged with first degree murder on a federal enclave, but pled guilty to second degree murder before her jury began deliberating. The statutory maximum punishment for second degree murder is life imprisonment.
Jordan’s case was teed up for sentencing on March 27th and the evening before, she moved to withdraw her guilty plea because the AUSAs prosecuting the case sought a 50 year sentence. This sentencing recommendation was based on their belief that the killing was not prompted by emotion; instead, it was a cold blooded killing that Jordan planned. At Jordan’s sentencing hearing, U.S. District Judge Don Molloy denied her motion to withdraw her guilty plea.
It’s also apparent that Jordan didn’t read the blog I wrote on allocution several days ago as she proceeded to express no remorse or responsibility for her husband’s death. Judge Molloy found that Jordan was not remorseful and said he was waiting for her to say she was sorry-but that never came.
In the end, Jordan was sentenced to serve 365 months in federal prison and she was also prohibited from financially benefiting in any way for revealing additional details about the murder. If Jordan earns all the good time available, she’ll serve 25 years in prison before being released. You single guys will want to note that Jordan won’t quite be 50 years old upon release—still plenty of time to walk down the aisle again!
