Attorney Morgan M. Masters obtained a Not Guilty verdict in State of
Ohio vs. Jared Ellis. Mr. Ellis was wrongly accused of Improperly Handling
a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle, a felony of the fifth degree. He was facing
up to one (1) year in prison if convicted. After turning down several
plea offers, including a second degree misdemeanor, Morgan began trial
on October 17, 2007. The State of Ohio called three Columbus Police officers
to the witness stand, all whom testified against Mr. Ellis. Subsequent
to the State resting its case, Morgan called Mr. Ellis to the witness
stand to testify on his own behalf, and then rested the defense’s
case. During closing arguments, Morgan pleaded to the jury for justice,
and justice was served. Shortly after the jury began deliberations, they
returned a verdict of Not Guilty. |
