Appellate Representation

If a client was convicted of a federal criminal offense, either by guilty plea or jury verdict, she has a right to have the circuit court of appeals review any legal issue that has been properly raised and preserved in the district court. Our firm is skilled at comprehensively reviewing the trial court record and framing legal arguments in briefs that are filed in the circuit courts of appeals. If the circuit court of appeals affirms the conviction and sentence imposed, our client has a right to file a petition for a writ of certiorari in the United States Supreme Court. However, whereas the appeal to the circuit court of appeals is an appeal of right, the appeal to the Supreme Court is discretionary.
